Elena Makrembolites is a goddess in Imperial mythology. She is worshiped by mothers and powerful women. She was the mother of Basil II Makrembolites, emperor of the Empire of Makhaira from 569-601 IR.

Little is know of her origins, but she married Constantinus Makrembolites, brother of Basil I Makrembolites. Historical records suggest this marriage was not initially viewed favorably, but her charm, grace, and beauty won over all but the bitterest foes of the Makrembolites family.

During the reign of her son, Basil II, she worked tirelessly to improve the realm by traveling from end to end and reporting back to her son the things she saw. She also had a knack for finding wells and new sources of water for places which desperately needed it.

Basil's decision to move his capital to Basilopolis in 591 IR was, in part, to honor his mother's dying instructions. She had long seen the empire had shifted its center to the east in population, wealth, and culture.
