Demmen

Demmen is the largest city in Demmenkreisen, the Kreisens. It is located where the Raxa River empties into Woden’s Sea. Its kreisarch is Matthias Burgmeister.

It is a major port specializing in transshipping goods from Svellheim and Periaslavl. The marshy, thick delta of the Mstov River forces larger ships to swap their cargo to smaller ships going east and vice versa to cargoes going west.

Its defenses are not minimal, but they have not been maintained well. Nor have they been extended as the city has grown to the south. Much of the city is outside its walls, including Southdocks.

It is also one of the oldest cities in all Eard and its original founding is lost in time. Given the nature of trade up and down the Mstov River and through Woden's Sea, both Demmen and Mstovgorod were settled at least as early as the first century after the Akkermenian Empire fell. Some Chroniclers and scholars suggest there were even settlements here even farther back.

 

Southdocks

The Southdocks are a series or docks and piers immediately to the south of Demmen. They were built to assist trade and fishing up the Raxa River. There are also a number of taverns here, most notably the Rower’s Bench
