Little is known about Alemayehu. He was, at times, an adventurer, a hermit, a scholar, and a poet living mostly in the northern Mataran reaches.
He is most remembered for earning enough respect from the Qafrianni that they allowed him to record and translate their Book of Songs.
Also, many places in the north of Matara have various legends about him. The most common are those where he is claimed to have left a great cache of treasure somewhere in the area.
